Tirius provides bespoke motor solutions for underwater RoV and tooling systems

Motor Technology

With the move to increasing electrification of both thruster and tooling systems for RoVs, Tirius is bringing smaller lightweight technologies to motor applications.

Building on existing designs for conventional fixed frequency asynchronous drives, the advantages of PM and associated technologies bring benefits to the customer in terms of reduced size and weight as well as controllability.

Hydraulic Power Units

As well as conventional fixed frequency HPU’s with power ratings up to 18 kW Tirius also provides lightweight and compact motors to manufacturers of HPU’s up to 60 kW.

A recent development also sees Tirius developing micro-HPU’s for manual operation of high-pressure compact tooling

Direct Drive Thrusters

Tirius provides motors for developers using conventional hub driven thrusters with or without gear reduction stages.

When increasing the thruster size and power, in order to address some of the issues inherent with this approach, Tirius is developing a range of Direct Drive thrusters.
